Reserves and game parks of Africa

Namibia and Botswana are two countries famous for their game parks gathering a lot of wild animals species, including endangered ones. We spent a few days in the Etosha national park, north of Namibia and in the Moremi game reserve in Botswana (Okavango delta) where we enjoyed photo safaris.

That's where we took time to watch wildlife, from lions to giraffes and from leopards to springboks. Night and day, they surrounded us, sometimes even a bit to close !
The following wildlife photo gallery gathers 51 of our best shots and represent a large variety of the animals we spotted. Some of them are close range photos like the leopard or the giraffe while others are large plans to emphasize the atmosphere.

When we started our trip to Botswana and Namibia we didn't know much about african wildlife except for the usual lions, giraffes or monkeys. Luckily we had bought an extensive travel guide displaying the animals we were likely to spot on a photo safari. Therefore we were able not only to spot wildlife but also to name with accuracy the different species of animals.

The challenge was to get close enough to take photos of wildlife, but not too close if we didn't want to scare the animals or to get hurt if it felt endangered. That's what almost occured with the hippopotamus which suddenly started to move towards our vehicule with a threatening attitude.

Photos safaris

During our photos safaris in Namibia or Botswana I took a bulk of photos, as you can imagine, but I succeeded in narrowing down to 51 photos which, to my knowledge, are the best wildlife photos I took. Or at least the ones that enable the best to identify an animal or to capture an attitude like the drinking giraffe.

I hope you will enjoy browsing the following wildlife photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Observing nature and getting close to wildlife is the essence of photo safari and I really liked it.
