Photo of a threatening elephant

Keep your distance with an agitated male elephant

Threatening elephant advising us to get out of its way by nervously moving its ears. One of the advices we can give: if you're on a photo safari in Botswana or Namibia, don't get too close to elephants, they can be very dangerous.
Our equiped camper 4x4 took a dusty trail of Etosha national park when one of us spotted this solitary male elephant. We had been told not to get too close to elephants and it's easy to understand why. They are so massive and yet quite fast so we had no intention not to comply with the advice.
That being said the question that is raised is "what is the minimum distance between a car and an elephant?"
I would say that the answer depends on the mood of the pachyderm. Clearly this male was unhappy and showed it by agitating its ears and moving its trump.
No need to say that we dashed a few meters away!
