Photo of a graceful oryx in Etosha park

How can the oryx survive in the desert?

Oryx antelope
05/

The oryx is a remarkable antelope that I only spotted in Etosha national park in Namibia. I guess the oryx is also present in Botswana, but there, I didn't see any sign of it.
What I like about the oryx is the gracefulness of its appearance, mainly due to its astonishingly long black and straight horns. The oryx on the photo was lying in the bush in the shadow of a tree. This antelope is amazing because it can survive many days without drinking: the oryx extracts the water from the roots and bulbs it feeds on.
It is an animal perfectly adapted to dry lands such as Namib desert, Etosha or Moremi in Botswana.
Along with the sable antelope (next photo), the oryx is my favorite antelope from austral Africa.
