Jackals are scavengers

The day after we came back to check what was left of the dead zebra. We had imagined that during the night hyenas would have feast on the carcass so that only skin and bones were left.
To our surprise the zebra was still very consistent with only the rump missing.
However, two jackals were feeding on the dead animal, their head full of blood. We remained at a safe distance from the opportunist jackals both for safety and in order not to disturb the scavengers.
We imagined that the two jackals were a couple taking food for their cubs.
Anyway, we were not disappointed to witness how the dead zebra episode was carrying on. First the zebras fight resulting in the dead of one of the pretenders. Then jackals feeding on the dead carcass for themselves and their cubs.
We were excited to see how the story will keep on unraveling... hyenas? vultures? more jackals? lions?
