Several lions resting and playing

After they had killed and eaten a giraffe, some of the lions were resting while the youngest were playing near a water hole of the Etosha pan in Namibia. I was lucky to witness the full sequence and I can tell there was no way the giraffe could have escaped. The lions had prepared a good plan and applied it perfectly. In the background of the photois standing one of the giraffe belonging to the group from which the other giraffe was taken. It's hard to say if it is kind of mourning but it stayed there, at a distance from the lions, for several minutes. As if waiting for the other to come back, not realising that it had been eaten by the lions.
As for the lions, they were not hungy anymore, and therefore were no longer a threat for the giraffe or any other animal... until next time!
