Meerkat in a typical position, watching all around and ready to raise the alarm should a predator approach.
Meerkats are very agile and I learnt that they are expert in catching scorpions which is one of their favorite prey. But unlike antelopes or elephants, meerkats are not easy to spot during a photo safari unless other people tell you where they have been signaled.
We didn't have the luck to come across meerkats but whe nwe stayed in a campsite near the border between Namibia and Botswana, there was a farm where meerkats were raised in vast enclosed land. There we were able to observe their behavior.
