Photo of a wildebeest in Etosha

Wildebeest generally live in herds

Grazing wildebeest

Contrary to what the photo suggests, the wildebeests live in herd ruled by social organization. The dominant males mark the territory in which they force the females to stay in.
Unfortunately for wildebeest they are one of the favourites preys of the lions although we didn't have the occasion to witness a wilderbeest kill during the photo safari in Etosha Namibia. At this season (october) the land is extremely dry. We can see on the photo that the herbs turned yellow because of dryness. Therefore it's more difficult for wildebeest to find the food they need to stay in good shape.
