Hawaii travelogue day 5 Kaua'i South and West

waimea canyon

Waimea canyon

This morning we chose an early morning start to explore the Waimea canyon on the West side of Kaua'i island. Indeed, as the clouds seem to gather around noon and then minimize the beaty of the canyon, we prefered an early visit.

Deep canyons, waterfalls, we feel very small compared to the elements! The views are breathtaking, either on the Napali coast or on the Waimea canyon. Now we understand why Waimea canyon is named the Grand canyon of the Pacific. Many trails enable to go deeper in the exploration, rewarding with fantastic views of the Napali coast, waterfalls and canyons.

Around noon, the sky is overcast and a light rain starts to fall... time for us to leave and head for the southern coast and its immutable sun.

Snorkeling in Hawaii

After a meal at Port Allen, we drive to Poi'pu beach to snorkel. A few minutesl later we're lucky to meet sea turtle and swim a bit with a big one. It's a magical moment you can watch on our sea turtle video.
