Volcanoes park

The morning is dédicated to the volcanoes park in order to explore Kilauea crater and its surroundings via the Crater rim drive. Among the main attractions are the Thurston lava tube Halema'uma'u crater which use to be not long ago a lake of lava. The sulfur emanations all along the road remind us of the danger represented by this active volcanoe.

Sea turtle

Then we hit the road and head to Kailua Kona stopping at the beautiful black sand beach of Punalu'u where we saw several sea turtles. We also detour to Ka lae, the southernmost point of the U.S.A. There is nothing special over there, we just went or the symbol it represents. Back on the main road, the rain started to fall until we reach Kailua Kona where a beautiful sunset welcomed us.
