Cambodia travelogue: Angkor temples long tour

Preah khan moats This morning we asked our driver to pick us up a bit later, around 10.30am as we planned to get back to Angkor Wat at the end of the afternoon to continue the discovery of this huge temple with a different lighting than the first time.

But for now we start to visit the temples of the big tour. We first head to Preah Khan, one of the biggest Angkor temple. It is surrounded by moats and the dusty roads leading to it are nicely decorated. Neak Pean is our next stop, an artificial basin built by king Jayavarman VII, then we visit Ta Som temple and East mebon. We finally reach the end of big tour where Pre Rup temple stands. We climb to the top where the view is gorgeous. As expected, our driver takes us back to Angkor temple where we spend another two hours. The end of afternoon light gives the temple another look. It is amazing to see the difference with what we saw the morning before, its colour changes, the shadows and shapes are different, it seems like another temple yet it is the same!
