Cambodia travelogue: Phnom penh

Phnom penh transportation After a resting night we are ready for our second day in Cambodia capital city, Phnom penh. The sun is shining, the air is cool, we enjoy the local smells while we have breakfast on the "la croisette" terrace, a restaurant facing Sisowat quay.

From where we are we can see the permanent traffic involving cars, motos, tuk-tuk and pedestrian among which a few monks begging for food as they do every morning. Then we walk along Sisowat quay to Wat Phnom, a Wat built on the only hill of Phnom penh. It costs 1$ to visit the Wat.
Then we follow street 92 and can't help to stop at Raffles Royal hotel, the most luxurious hotel of Phnom penh. As the heat is already terrible we sit near the swimming pool and take a refreshing lime juice. We are only a few minutes from central market where it is pleasant to walk along the cool passageways. Fruits, vegetables, meet and fish, everything is exposed for sale: colours for the eyes and exotic smells. It is 1.30pm, we head back to the hotel to escape from the heat. Around 3pm we decide to go visit the royal museum which gathers the most beautiful collection of Khmer sculptures in the world. Then we walk to Sisowat quay where Tonle Sap river meets Mékong (facing royal palace). We spend a few minutes wtching the boats and the general activities whereas the sun is lowering on the horizon offering beautiful colours.
