During our kayaking trips, we got as close as possible to the glacier that we could hear cracking on all sides. It was not uncommon to witness the fall of ice seracs with a deafening noise! Needless to say, in these cases, it was not good to stick around. In general, we always respected a safe distance from the glacier but also from drifting icebergs. Because the phobia of any kayaker in such cold conditions is to flip over!
