South african wild animals
Wildebeest and oxpecker
Photo of a gnou (also know as wildebeest) in Kruger park, South Africa. When we think of wildebeest, we imagine the migration between Kenya and Tanzania in Masai mara game reserve involving thousands of animals struggling to survive as they cross deadly rivers crocodiles-infested. But this wildebeest was lonely, probably because it was sick? Nevertheless, if you look closely at its back you'll see two oxpeckers, small birds often living with antelopes or wildebeest. They feed on parasites which help the big animals to remain in good health.
