Days 1 & 2 of the Kilimanjaro expedition
We left Paris at 10pm bound for Doha (Qatar airways) were we landed at 6am. Doha is the capital city of Qatar, small country by its size but enormous by the wealth. The tourist attractions are seldom but one can for example go on a 4x4 ride in sand dunes.
Setting foot in Kenya
We caught our flight to Nairobi where we landed at 2pm. Our guide and bus were excpecting us to transfer to Moshi in Tanzania.
We are already quite tired due to this long journey and yet we have some 6 more hours before our final destination.
The weather is nice, the temperature is cool, around 25°C and we drive through several colourful and alive villages.
While getting close to the border the landscape becomes savanna, we often catch sights of Maasai people looking afte their cattles.
First glimpse of Kilimanjro
Once we've croosed the border the welcoming landscape was breathtaking: our first sight of the objective of our stay, the Kilimanjaro.
We can see it whereas another 250km separate us. The light is fading, giving pastel colours to the landscape but we can clearly notice the snow on top of Kilimanjaro.
This is a good surprise. Our guide, Faustin, explains that it has not been snowing that much in almost 10 years, we are lucky!
A few minutes later the sun has set, we drive to Arusha and look forward to being in our beds!
