Female bird wrasse in hawaiian waters

- Scientific name: Gomphosus varius
- Hawaïan name: Hinalea Akilolo
The bird wrasse is so called because of its long nose used to track preys in corals. It preferably feeds on small crabs, crustaceans, and even small fishes. The body of the male is green therefore the bird wrasse picture above represents a female.
